How Wealthy Am I?
The author was inspired to write this after listening to a Christian Radio Program by Chuck Swindoll who is a Pastor and Bible teacher at Insight for Living in the United States of America. We typically know the names of famous artists in the world but what about the unsung Hero's in our lives, or do we even have at least 3-5 people whose names we can call out to as our Unsung Hero's.
Time to Self-Check: How wealthy are you, really!
When we hear the word wealth, our minds often go
straight to money, net worth, properties, assets. stocks, or luxury. But what if I told you that real wealth has
nothing to do with your bank account? Don’t get me wrong. Money is a necessity for providing things for
your living. But wealth?
What if the truest form of richness lies in the quality of
your relationships? Your attitude and the positive outcome you generate in your
surrounding.
You Are Richer Than a Billionaire
If you can name 3 to 5 people in your life who:
· You can
call at any hour of the day or night and they’ll stop
everything to be there for you.
· You can
talk to for hours yet never run out of things to say or sit in silence and feel
completely understood.
·
You can
both laugh and cry with, without fear of judgment.
·
Inspire you
every day, just by the way they live their lives.
·
Have taught
you valuable life lessons you still carry today.
· You have, to look up to as mentors, people
you’re willing to learn from, submit to, and seek advice from when life throws
tough decisions your way.
· Have made a positive change in their
lives because of you.
If you have these people, you are not just fortunate but you
are abundantly wealthy in the ways that truly count. It also
shows that you have the above qualities too.
What If You’re Not There Yet?
Here’s the good news: even if you are low in some of these
areas, you have the power to create that wealth by becoming that person for
someone else.
Here’s how:
· Be
Available. Make yourself approachable that someone can call you anytime. Show
up. Be willing to drop what you’re doing when someone needs you.
· Be a good
Listener. Not everyone needs fixing. Sometimes
or rather most times they just need to be heard. Offer your ears, not always
your advice.
· Be
Emotionally Present. Be the person who can laugh and cry with
someone. People remember how you made them feel more than anything you say.
· Inspire
Through Action. Let your daily life be an example with kindness, perseverance,
resilience, honesty, integrity, forgiving, bringing out the good in others. You
never know who’s watching.
·
Share Your
life Lessons. The experiences life has taught you are more precious than silver
and gold. Don’t keep them to yourself, pass them on. You will never know how
your experiences will help someone else make the right decisions in life.
·
Be a
Trusted Mentor. Everyone loves to give advice, but few are truly heard.
Build trust so that someone will lean on you, listen to your
wisdom, and grow because of it.
Because Wealth Is Relational
In the end, the most valuable “assets” in your life are
people, those you invest in, and who invest in you. When you pour into others, that wealth often
circles back in ways you never imagined. We all come into this world empty
handed and will go empty handed. There will never be a U-Haul behind the Hearse.
Money is tangible that is left behind in the bank account, but what you leave
behind in people’s hearts and lives is intangible for generations to
come.
So, take a moment to reflect.
Ask
yourself: How Wealthy Am I, in reality?
