HAPPY FATHER'S DAY - Remembering one of Dad's best lessons

I would like to wish every dad of this world a very happy Father’s Day. A father ‘s role is really important in developing a strong foundation for his family. He is that pillar and guide to his family.  Children look up to their father as a role model in the family. Thank you to all the fathers for being that special person in your child’s life.  Thank you to all the single moms who have been a dad and a mom to your children, who have carried the roles of both the father and mother in the lives of your children.  Who have shouldered the responsibilities of a father in the family. Thank you to all the wives who have supported their husbands through thick and thin and helped them to be a wonderful dad. Special blessings to all the dads of this world on this special day.

Memories go back to the 80s bringing great memories of my dad.  One day as me and my siblings were sitting around my dad, I remember my dad asked us a very serious question. He said, “There are so many Great Wonders of the World, and we all know about it, do you know what The Little Wonder is?” and we all cracked our brains to find the answer, but we just couldn’t.  My dad was patient, and he gave us the time to think but none of us could give him the right answer. We gave up and we asked him “dad tell us the answer, what is The Little Wonder?”.  He looked at us and he pointed out to the little washing machine that we had in our house that was named The Little Wonder.   At that time, we all laughed. It was a family moment of laughter and happiness.

The lesson that my dad taught us is that we as human beings look for answers outside our own homes with the outside world, but we fail to look for answers within ourselves. We point fingers at people everywhere around us, but we fail to point fingers at ourselves. We find faults in everyone else, but we fail to recognise the faults within us. We want to improve the whole world, but we fail to work on ourselves, we want to teach the whole world what is right from wrong, but we fail to abide by our own values.  We appreciate other families and children, but we fail to appreciate our own family and children.  We recognise the good in other children, but we find more faults in our own.

So, when my dad asked a simple question what the little wonder is, we were thinking of worldly things, we were thinking about historical things we were thinking about things which we would never imagine that would be in our own house, in our own home, right in front of our eyes.  What a beautiful story. Even after decades I still remember this and what it has taught me.

I dedicate this story to all the dads of this world. Let’s appreciate our dad whether with us or not with us, whether alive or has passed on, that he was the best dad ever that God gifted us. He did and does everything best to his ability. He offered and offers us the best whatever is possible in his power and let’s appreciate everything our dads are doing and done for us.

Happy Fathers Day to all the Wonderful Dads out there.

Best wishes,

Joy
