Inspirational Leadership

What impact do Inspirational Leaders have on employees.  On their performance, organizational and personal development.

Even the best employee needs motivation to bring out their best performance and utmost potential.   Unfortunately, some managers have reached their peak through media hype.  They sway others to do as they ask them and that’s why they remain Managers and not turn into Leaders.

Inspirational Leaders take immediate action because they care and are concerned about their employees.

They believe if their employees are taken care of, they will take care of their clients.  Inspirational Leaders not only impact their employees’ lives but also their families and sometimes their generations too, in a positive way.

WHAT DO INSPIRATIONAL LEADERS DO?

·         They make themselves available and approachable

·         They connect with your thoughts and feelings

·         They help you understand and reason out

·         They have a skill of communicating the message in the right way

·         They are readers – they read your silence, they read between the lines

·         They help you move on

·         They see you as asset and bring out the hidden potential in you

·         They see your potential even though you don’t see it yourself

·         They know you are capable and give you a push if needed

·         They believe in you

·         They help you find your strength instead of focusing on your weaknesses

During my 30 years of work experience, I have found 3 Inspirational Leaders who have impacted my life and growth in a positive way.

1.      M. Sukumar – who was the Media Director at Ogilvy & Mather Advertising, Mumbai, India.  Fondly known as Suku, he always saw the good in others, overlooked their weaknesses, made them understand the lessons learned from mistakes, always looked for solutions and uplifted all his employees.  He would walk up to your desk and make sure everything is fine with you.  He was a great encourager and uplifter.  Never looked at himself as a Boss. A true Inspirational Leader.

2.     Ravi Rao – who was the General Manager at OMD (Optimum Media Direction), a media house of Impact BBDO, Dubai, UAE.  Currently CEO of GroupM, MENA.  Ravi has great passion working with people, especially the young.  Very approachable and down to earth individual.  He never hesitated to have lunch with his employees on a normal day.  Never looked at himself as a Boss or GM. His office doors were always kept open, and you could walk in anytime and get some valuable insights from him.  He appreciated honesty from his employees.  He was concerned about his employees.  A true Inspirational Leader

3.     Thomas Clarke – who is the President and owner of WP Innova.  Fondly known as Tom.  Tom is very passionate about his employees.  He knows all his employees by their names and not just as an ID no. or a face.  He is very approachable and ready to give an ear to what his employees have to say and encourages innovative ideas.  He is a great inspiration to his people; he respects honesty and greatly appreciates anyone who is honest with him when they have made a mistake.  He is a solution finder and does not focus on peoples’ weaknesses. He brings out the hidden potential in you and believes in you. He is an encourager and an up-lifter. Never looks at himself as a Boss – very down to earth individual. A true Inspirational Leader

I would say all the above Inspirational Leaders have all the qualities that an Inspirational Leader should have.

I AM SURE THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER INSPIRATIONAL LEADERS IN THIS WORLD.  WHO IS YOUR INSPIRATIONAL LEADER?

Have a great day.
